You Turn Me On I’m a Radio
It’s officially the last days of summer up here in the Pacific Northwest and after having spent a good deal of my summer on the road making terped cocktails for folks, I’m reflecting a lot on the things I’ve kept with me from those travels. Being that I’m from a land where citrus doesn’t JUST GROW ON TREES, I’m always delighted to be in a place where I can pluck beautiful, fresh citrus whenever I want and it just so happens that we’ve released our new Lemon Cake flavor– so I figured I’d come up with an appropriate send off to the summer that spoke to those beautiful yellow orbs ripening in the California sun, the celebration that is Lemon Cake and Joni Mitchell.
Flips get a fair amount of flak for being difficult to make, but they are ALWAYS worth the effort. For those who are looking to steer clear of eggs, you can substitute aquafaba- or the water from most canned beans; I personally prefer red kidney beans or garbanzo in this application. For whipping either your aquafaba or egg whites, remove the spring from your Hawthorne strainer and add it to your mixing glass before shaking vigorously.
To a mixing glass add either 1 egg white or .75oz of aquafaba along with the spring from you strainer, cover and shake vigorously for about a minute- or until the liquid turns into a tight foam.
Remove shaker tin and remove the spring and add 1.5oz Stoli Vanil vodka, .5oz 2:1 simple syrup and .75oz fresh squeezed lemon juice and 2 drops of True Terpenes Lemon Cake flavor. Fill with ice, cover and shake. Double strain into your favorite 6oz cocktail glass and garnish with lemon zest and cake sprinkles or poppy seeds- it is a lemon cake after all.

1.5oz Stoli Vanil
.75oz Aquafaba or 1 egg white
.75oz Lemon Juice
.5oz 2:1 Simple Syrup
2 Drops Lemon Cake Flavor
